Senior Yoga Class

     This course was designed specifically for Senior citizens and those with weakened or precarious health conditions because traditional yoga postures have shown to be potentially injurious to these populations. 

     Our class adapts many of the yoga postures, especially segues to postures, to assure safety yet still offers all the benefits of this wonderful practice. Many of the adaptations are subtle but precise. Some postures are not used depending on the participant's health issue, (i.e. herniated disc means no "Cobra" pose). You will learn how to adapt a routine for issues like, joint replacements, post surgery, cervical or lumbar injuries, etc.

 

There is a need for more instructors educated in this specific field!

We offer two separate courses: Beginners and Advanced.

 

Beginners Course - 12 weeks/2 hrs each week

If you have not been trained in yoga, then this is the class to attend.

If you already teach or practice yoga, you are most welcome to attend this course if you feel

it can add to your knowledge.

  • Qi gong warm up exercise.

  • Aura sensing exercise before and after the practice.

  • The Check-in exercise: stress/pain levels evaluation, before and after practice.

  • The traditional yoga asanas (poses).

  • The adopted yoga asanas.

  • Education of working with a variety of health issues.

  • Acupressure immune system points, yoga breathing techniques, chants, mudras to share at half-time rest.

  • Meditation and Imagery options for cooldown.

  • Chair exercise routine.

  • DVD and handouts.

  • Certificate of completion often required to instruct.

Fee: $295

Advanced Course - 8 hours

 

If you are already a Yoga Instructor (with proof of certification or have life instructional experience), then this advanced training is all you need for certification which includes:

  • DVD, handouts, health issue's education

  • 4 weeks of the practice

  • 4 weeks of instructing a class

  • Certificate of completion to instruct

Fee: $125

Note: This is a modification and addition to traditional yoga training.

Those seeking to become traditional yoga instructors

would be advised to take traditional yoga classes.
